Diablo 3 early install launches

Update:

Let the joyous news be spread; it looks like Blizzard has solved their bad connection problem and fans can begin installing Diablo 3.  The Diablo 3 early installer is running smoothly, albeit a little slow for our taste (maybe it's time to upgrade the computer).

Either way, users should now be able to download and install the Diablo 3 launch day 1.0.1 patch, and be ready to play as soon as the servers come online tonight.

The Diablo 3 servers will officially go live tonight at 12:01 a.m.  Global Play will be turned on when the game has launched in all regions.  This means that you will not be able to play in a region outside your home region until after the Americas’ midnight launch at 12:01 a.m. PDT on May 15.

And remember, you aren't the only one anxious to play Diablo 3.  Blizzard warns of launch night login delays of "up to 40 seconds".  If the connection doesn't succeed in 40 seconds, you'll be presented with an Error 37 message and asked to try again.

Let's all hope and pray that Blizzard has their sh*t together for tonights launch because you can bet millions will be attempting to login at once when the servers go live. Rightfully so, it's been a long wait for fans of the Diablo series.

Original:

After chaos broke out on the Diablo 3 forums when the early install didn't launch exactly at 8:01 a.m. this morning, it now looks like Blizzard has run into a new problem.

The Diablo 3 early installer function is now open and available, sort of.

Users attempting to install their copy of the game early are running into an error that reads:

"ERROR: Unable to initialize streaming.  Please check your Internet connection.  If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (CreateStreamingManifest::GetStreamingManifestContents)".

At this point, we're not sure what that means, but you can bet we've contacted Blizzard to find out more (as have a million other people eager to install Diablo 3, I'm sure).

We'll be sure to update you when we find out more.
